Mi primer contacto con Liberia fue por medio de la emprendedora social Tina Kpan, con quien pasé días inolvidables en Madrid hace poco más de un año durante el I Encuentro de mujeres africanas y españolas emprendedoras organizado por la Fundación Mujeres y de quien ya escribí dos artículos en este blog: «Haz de tu don una profesión» y «Tina Kpan: premio a su labor y proyecto empresarial en Liberia«.
Ahora quisiera aprovechar la ocasión para felicitar a todas las mujeres del mundo, especialmente a las mujeres liberianas y africanas, por el premio Nobel de la Paz 2011 concedido a Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf (Presidente de Liberia y primera mujer presidente de un país africano), Leymah Gbowee (activista liberiana que logró poner fin a la segunda guerra civil de su país) y Tawakkul Karman (política yemení y activista pro derechos humanos). En mi opinión, el premio a la presidente Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf es mucho más merecido que el que dieron al presidente Barak H. Obama en 2009.
Cuando conocí a Tina Kpan me impresionó su tesón y energía. Y quiero ahora recordar alguna de las cosas que dijo:

Now I would like to take the chance to congratulate all women in the World (specially Liberian and African women) for the Peace Nobel Prize 2011 awarded to Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf (President of Liberia and first woman who became a president in an African country), Leymah Gbowee (Liberian activist who helped to put an end to the second civil war in her country) and Tawakkul Karman (politician from Yemen and human rights activist). In my opinion, the prize awarded to Mrs Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf is much more deserved than the one awarded to Mr Barak H. Obama in 2009.
When I met Tina Kpan, I was impressed by her perseverance and positive energy. And I would like to honor her by posting one of the videos we recorded back in 2010:
